Activities

Project: Sujala

Facts & Findings: Tribal villages facing water scarcity to date. Women used to travel far places to fetch drinking water from various ponds and water sources they often took children along to assist, which enabled them to carry more quantities.Sometimes the polluted water also causes illness among children & elders, especially during the monsoons.

Purpose: Project Sujala focuses on supporting the Tribal habitations in fulfilling their daily water problem & recharge groundwater.

Approach: With the help of villagers, we are supporting them in constructing natural wellsprings, rain harvesting pits, water storage tanks & distribution of water wheel barrels for hassle-free water transportation. Another step in the pipeline is to enhance water extraction using solar powered techniques for drinking and farming.

Project: Velugu

Facts & Findings: Being located in the interiors of the forest, the tribal habitations live with no electricity and remain in darkness As the night falls, darkness descends in the villages, leads students unable to study, and there is always a fear of animal attacks & snake bites in the forest which may result in fatality.

Purpose: To address these issues, we have come up with project Velugu, which includes the provision of sustainable power and the contribution of solar energy sources.

Approach: The tribal habitations with no solar-powered will be provided with Solar - Street Lights, Solar home lantern kits & portable study lights. This initiative has been a significant success among many habitations.

Project: Poshan

Facts & Findings: India's tribal population is disproportionately affected by undernutrition and anaemia, Due to their low socio-economic status and social isolation The children & Women of tribal communities, become highly vulnerable in this regard and the prevalence of malnutrition and underweight is almost 1.5 times more in tribal children than in others.Only about 25% of pregnant & lactating women and 29-32% of children have an adequate intake of both protein & calories.

Purpose: To bridge this gap of malnourishment, we started providing nutrition supplements, required medicines & spreading awareness sessions under this project.

Approach: The nutrition supplements covering the necessary nutrient intake will be distributed on a daily basis to the enlisted beneficiaries like pregnant /lactating women, malnourished kids, and others in selected tribal habitations.

Project: Rythu Nestham

Facts & Findings: Agriculture is the most primitive occupation of the tribal people. Though the people had changed their cultivation but some of the natural farming practices have remained unchanged among many groups of farmers. The unchanged practices may be due to the fact that they find the practices more sustainable.

Purpose: Under Project Rythu Nestham, we support the tribal farmers to build natural community agriculture employing sustainable and natural methods.

Approach: The beneficiaries will be provided with the Seed kits, tree saplings, resources to make natural pesticides, fertilisers and awareness sessions about natural farming.

Project: Vidhya

Facts & Findings: Lack of literacy among tribal people has been identified as a major problem in development, Most of tribal areas are hilly & interiors of forest. so the child faces transport problems to reach school & they have to walk a longer distance which creates irregularity in school.

Purpose: Under Project Vidhya, we try to support the hamlets by building a bridge school for their basic education, and support the education of children who have discontinued for various reasons.

Approach: The beneficiaries will be provided with the material and support needed for the construction of schools. Eligible students will be mapped to various residential schools and colleges. Proper career counselling will be provided to children who plan for further study. In addition, we have supported renovation of 4 Government schools with substandard infrastructure.

Project: Vaidhya

Facts & Findings: The widespread poverty, illiteracy, malnutrition, absence of safe drinking water, sanitary conditions, poor maternal and child health services, ineffective coverage of national health and nutritional services, etc. are the major contributing factors for dismal health in tribal communities.

Purpose: We’re focusing on improving the overall health in tribal communities, and spreading awareness on preventive healthcare.

Approach: Under project Vaidhya, we provide required medication to villagers, refer them to hospitals, and support the home based treatment. We train health workers in collaboration with other NGOs at village level. With the support of CSR, we have constructed a 10- bed patient ward in premises of IDO hospital Gatumalla, this helps to address inpatient admissions of people due to various conditions. We do support government hospitals in tribal areas with medical equipment when needed.

Village Development Programme

Facts & Findings: Holistic and sustainable development at grassroot level would be driven by integrated development across various functions in villages.

Purpose: Village Development Programme focuses on working along with villagers as partners to improve their lifestyle across multiple dimensions.
